A farmer-led network of people's organizations, non-government organizations and scientists working towards the sustainable use and management of biodiversity through farmers' control of genetic and biological resources, agricultural production and associated knowledge.

Retrieval, Documentation and Dissemination of Farmer-Developed/Adapted Technologies (FDAT)

This component program refers to the retrieval, reaffirmation, systematization and practical use of the body of knowledge relating to traditional/indigenous agricultural practices used and, over the years, improved by the farmers. Most of these body of knowledge or information about indigenous or traditional farming practices, such as traditional and non-chemical ways of controlling farm infestations, have been forgotten and supplanted by foreign and modern agricultural practices.

Retrieval is usually done in close consultation with, or direct participation (informal sharing) of farmers organizations. The outcome serves as the body of farm management practices/options which the new generation of farmers and researchers can turn to. This involves the process of retrieval, documentation, validation, and diffusion of said farm management practices/options to other farmers.
